Why Alteraround?

The digital age is here. Faster than ever, and we want to be ahead of the curve by developing and creating business opportunities to help our sewing graduates.

We want you to start your very own alteration business, and for the same reason, to meet the gap in the fashion industry.

What is the current gap in the fashion industry?

More and more Singaporeans are buying clothes online because it is convenient. However, one of the main disadvantage is that they are unable to try the clothes on first, so returning the clothes or altering them would be the next best option.

When Singaporeans are looking for an alteration service near their neighbourhood, it is a difficult and time consuming process because they need to justify the price with the sewing workmanship.

What is Alteraround?

Alteraround is a brand new alteration service proudly developed by TaF.tc!

With Alteraround, our sewing graduates are able to provide and offer alteration services from the comfort of their own home.

TaF.tc is developing a web application to help Singaporeans who are finding alteration shops nearest to their location, and matching them with the closest alteration personnel.

We will be partnering with our sewing vendor, to provide a loan cum purchase (sponsored by third party) for the sewing machines to help our new business owners!

This project is for you if you want to:

  • Be a business owner

  • Generate a primary or secondary source of income
  • Love the craft of sewing and alteration

  • Be part of a new movement and create a best-in class standard in the alteration industry

  • Supporting sustainability in fashion by upcycling clothing

Here's what you can expect!

What Do I Need?

  • A set of drafting and sewing tool kit (Please refer to full list here)
  • Laptop (Only for students applying for online classes)

Since this is the first time you are learning how to draft and sew, it is advisable to get fabrics that are not too soft and slippery.

Solid colour fabric is highly recommended. However, please note that you clearly mark which is the face and back of the fabric. If you prefer to get prints, you must get prints that are non-directional and that you can cut in either direction. That means if you choose a dinosaur print, you must make sure the dinosaurs are looking at all different directions (up and down, left and right) and not only one direction.
